Water Quality ReportsWe take water quality very seriously. To protect citizens’ health, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) since 1974 has set national safety standards for drinking water. While the USEPA and state governments set and enforce standards, water suppliers – whether public or private – have a direct responsibility for the quality of the water that flows from your tap. In the past several years, and all over the country, we’ve received more than 150 awards for superior water quality from state regulators, industry organizations, individual communities, and government and environmental agencies. Visit our Accolades section to view some of our recent awards. We mail our Consumer Confidence Reports to our customers annually. Many American Water subsidiaries began providing this information to customers many years before it was required by law.
